It's been a busy month for 5CC.
Is it me or is Wizards starting earlier and earlier with the spoilers? The Rise of the Eldrazi Orb and Visual Spoiler are already up. Along with some pretty interesting cards from the set.

This weekend I will be going to PaX East with my old collage buddies. I'll be looking forward to playing Arkham Horror with them. I picked that game up two months ago, but have not found anyone that wants to play. I wish I could say 5CC had a table or something at PaX, but I'm pretty sure Gabe and Tyco have no idea we exist. Steve lives in Minnesota anyway. He's the one everyone would want to meet. What would I do at a booth? Write someone a script?
I've been trying to set up a 5CC play testing group, since it seems like all of the cool sites have one. But, Star Trek Online has been eating into my life. I've been playing with my wife. I made a Federation Engineer who is a Klingon and named Mong qorDu'Hutlh. But, I can't think of a good backstory for him yet. I think I need to read more about 25th century Klingons from that timeline.

Some New Spoiler Cards

Contest Cards
When I asked people to make Rise of the Eldrazi cards with the new art, the response was much greater than I expected. I will not be judging all of the cards, because there are too many. But, I will be judging one card from each person. The card I liked the most from that person. For those of you that are participating in "Make the Guy in the Chair" don't worry. I will be judging those cards next week. It is, after all, just the 26th, so that contest is not over yet. There is still time to enter, or fix your entries, for that one.By: RubyApple
Balance: 9.5/10 - I think it should probably cost 5, but the fact that THEY get to pick first really helps balance it. It can't be the only creature in play or it will just die. Also, it being a "may" effect also helps in that regard. I think I will give you a 9.5 here, which is one of the highest scores I've ever given out for balance.Flavour: 9/10 - Well, I have to say I really like the flavor. It's everything the picture tells you it is. A angel balancing the scales. I will be interested to see if the real card is a spell or not. I hope it's like your card.
Creativity: 4/5 - Again, I like that you did not just make it a triggered balance or something. Also, it only kills one of that permanent type, unlike balance. Its almost more like Equipoise.
Quality: 4/5 - "Vigilance" should not be capitalized. See Akroma.

Balance: 9/10 - I think you did a good job balancing this guy. 13 mana for a 13/13 with those abilities is very fair. He might be a little weak compared to the other guys, but "Fateseal 13" is nothing to scoff at, and the other guy costs 2 mana more. I don't know why you would be shuffling your library. 13 cards is really deep, but why not?Flavour: 9/10 - I think I'm going to have to give you top marks here too. I like the use of flavor text, but a metagame and an in game quote you have there. Quite cleaver.
Creativity: 4/5 - I think you did a great job working within the confounds of what an Eldrazi King should look like. The abilties are well thought out, and are what they should be. It feels like the other Eldrazi King, but it is its own card.
Quality: 5/5 - I should give you bonus points here. That frame is flawless, and you even have the card number like it should be. Perfect.

Balance: 8/10 - I think this card is well balanced. I feel kinda bad that when you use his final it will still be a LONG time until you win, and you very well might not. Unless, of course, you're cleaver and float mana then cast something after he blows up the world. Then you'll win right quick.Flavour: 6/10 - Fear is an outdated keyword. It should be intimidate, I feel. Also, all of his abilities seem black to me. Which might be ok if the non-hybrid mana in his casing cost was black. This card should be red with a hint of black and blue, but it's not. 'Walkers are hard, and I like this card, but the flavor is off.
Creativity: 4/5 - This is it's own card, that's for sure.
Quality: 4/5 - Abilities lack punctuation. I won't take off for the frame this time, but it's not right either. It looks cool, but that's not the point.

Balance: 6/10 - I don't feel like this card is balanced. The second forces them to attack the 'Walker, and protects you both from burn. The third one quickly gets him out of kill range, and also protects him and you. He just keeps getting harder and hard to kill, while protecting himself. I think it was a good try to have a 'Walker with all +'s, but it's not balanced.Flavour: 8/10 - There is good flavor here. These are the kind of abilities you would expect from this White walker. Having him have all +'s also is good flavor for a white 'Walker. He is only a little bit generic.
Creativity: 4/5 - Creative. Again, all +'s are helping you here.
Quality: 4.5/5 - A little pixilation on the set symbol and "step" is not quite right, but I'm not going to take off for either of those minor things. Your copyright line is even correct. Very good job, except you missed a "be" in the middle ability.

Balance: 8/10 - This spells should probably cost UU, but that's just because wizards does not like efficient couterspells anymore. As it is, it would probably beat out cancel for most decks, but I don't know how much I am bothered by that.Flavour: 9.5/10 - I like the double use of the title. Is Jace being undone or does the undoing belong to Jace? I think the abilities tells us its Jace doing the undoing, but I like how it keeps you guessing. This is the best flavor I've seen in a long time.
Creativity: 4/5 - Seems creative to me. Not completely off the wall creative, but solid.
Quality: 4.5/5 - It should be worded so it can only target one spell. The way it's written it can target 2.

Balance: 6.5/10 - Oh, one of these cards. I think I picked this one just to challenge myself. Is this card balanced? In a long game, it's unplayable; in a combo deck, it's godlike. It would see play in Vintage and other formats with Combo in it, but what about standard? Maybe in aggro, and definitely if a combo deck shows up.Flavour: 6/10 - Well, the stone has blood on it. I think the card's favor fits. However, the "super powerful card with a super powerful drawback" design always screams "Munchkin!" at me. Cards should not min/max.
Creativity: 3/5 - At least it's not called "Mox Crystal."
Quality: 5/5 - I like the use of the card number. Everything looks good.
Total: 20.5
Let me level with you, kikushadowblades. I liked your other cards better than this one. I don't know why I picked this one. I'm sorry. Jace's Reversal would have gotten a 23. Gideon of the Order would have gotten a 21. Sarkhen Possessed would have gotten an 24.

Balance: 8/10 - 2 mana for 1 damage 4 mana for 2. I think this card is very evenly costed for a colorless burn spell. With all of the colorless 0/1's running around this card is pretty good. Hopefully your local TO will know that you can "lock in" mana costs, so you can get a discount for the 0/1's AND sacrifice them for mana for this card.Flavour: 9/10 - Well, Ugin is supposed to be a dragon. If that was not the case I would be asking why a dragons breath was colorless. But, it IS the case.
Creativity: 4/5 - Seems pretty unique to me.
Quality: 4.5/5 - I'm taking off for the set symbol. Anything but that square is fine.

Balance: 7/10 - I feel like it should cost at least 1. You have to wait a turn to use it, and you can only use it once, but it should cost more than 0. I mean, it can fly. Having to wait a turn to use your Dark Ritual will help to balance it.Flavour: 8/10 - I think you did a good job here. It's not quite what is used to make mana in this set, but it's a very good guess. I too would have thought the Hadrons would be use for this.
Creativity: 4/5 - Seems pretty creative.
Quality: 4.5/5 - I'm taking off for the set symbol. Anything but that square would be fine.
