I've added google ads to the site. I don't know if anyone cares or has anything to say about it, but if you do, you should!

If it helps maintain the site and remains unobstructive, then by all means keep them.
Wow... I've been away for a long, long time.

good t have you back ;) (refresh comic #55 I just changed it)

You tell me if you find them obstructive or not. I would like some input on the matter. currently, I was just losing money every month (I was doing it because I love it) with the ads I should at least break even.

Yeap. I'm used to Google Ads, and it's a no-brainer, actually.
Will it make a difference? Let's hope it does.

Agreed, whatever keeps you running, if we need 50 foot tall banners in 3-D popping out of our monitors, so be it...that actually sounds pretty cool

Like comments under the comics? Yeah, I was hoping the forum would become the place for those kind of things, but it does not seem to be working :(

I have a programmer friend I could talk to about adding something like that to the site. I think the real issue is the front page is limited in its format. A magic card LOOKS cool, but its limited in functionality. Where would be a good place for the comments? Should I put the news on a separate page like most other sites do? Would I get a lot of "YOU SUX!" if I make it too easy to comment ;)

What about a comments "button" that is put right at the top of the news? That links to the forums? for instance right above the "Talk to Nicol Bolas, Lord of Hasbro on twitter!" or you could put a link on the page switching bar.

I actually meant a feature so that we don't have to load a new page to reply.
But the unexpected 'comments' section would be nice. Maybe something like in YouTube?

I understand what your saying. I was talking to my computer-science-guy friend about it, he was saying that there is probably a Google widget for it. I will check into it probably sometime this week (hopefully when I have power back at my house, had to come into work to write this :( ) and see were on the page would be the best place to put it.
If there is NOT a Google widget for it I will see if my computer-science-guy buddy can do it. When I brought all of this up to him he DID remind me that when he asked me when I first started this site if I wanted to do something like that and I responded "I just want a place to put up pretty pictures" and he said, "Ok, use this programing language, that's about all it can do but its easy."

I used to do that actually:
http://www.5colorcontrol.com/comic.php?comic=24

But, I kinda stopped. I understand what Blastoderm is saying with just have a "quick reply" button, most comics do that, in fact. The only problem I have with the idea (besides it making me do extra work :P ) is it will effectually kill any reason at all for the forums to exist.... but they seem pretty dead anyway
:sneaky:

Edit: Ok, I just did sarpedun's idea for the last 4 comics, because its super easy to do. If (very few)/(no one) say anything about the comics by Friday of next week I will look into Blastoderm's idea and try to put a "comment section, powered by Google" under each comic. If there is no way to do THAT, I will see if I can convince computer-science-guy friend to implement the idea, if he can't or is unwilling because it would involve changing the base code of the site to Ruby or something, well then, here we are ;)
