Contest Challenge for the Month of February: Rise of the Eldrazi
Image
Make a card that could be in the upcoming set!
(Eldrazi is a creature type)

The way this will work, is that people can make cards using:
Magic Set Editor and post them here, on this thread. (MAKE SURE YOU FILL IN THE ARTIST'S NAME OR AT LEAST THIER DEVIANTART SN IN THE APPROPRIATE PLACE.)

People will talk about which cards they like, and you can enter the contest with as many entries as you would like. At the end of the month I will pick a card we like and put it in the news. We will also have a 'Hall of Fame.'

(I will not play in this game, to make it fair and all that)

If you have any questions feel free to ask them here.

Also, how I will be judging things:
Spoiler:
Balance: 10/10 - I liked Standard and Draft. If you card is a rare, I will be asking my self, "Self, if I was on my way to a tournament, and I was to build a deck to support this card, would I have a reasonable chance of winning?" If the answer is "no," how much would I not want to? If the answer is "yes" how much do I want to? (since it could unbalance the game).
If the card is a uncommon or common, I will be thinking about what pick I would choose it in draft, and whether or not having lots of it would unbalance the draft. (I will also think about it in constructed, but as a support card.)
I will also ask myself if your card would unbalance any of the older formats, but will care less about that answer.
Finally, if its clear your card is a casual card, I will TRY and be understanding, but I am a terrible casual player, and really have no grasp of the format.
Flavour: 10/10 - I will probably be more lenient in this category. The main questions will be: "Did I like the Flavour or not?," "How much does the art fit?" But I will try not to be too harsh. Bad art>no art. Think Goblin Offensive flavor.
Creativity: 5/5 - "Has this been done before?" "How 'new' is it?" Think Doran, the Siege Tower's ability.
Quality: 5/5 - "Does this card (need/should not have) flavour text?" Also, I will be taking off -.25 for every 'small' error I find, and -.5 for every 'large' error. If your card does not work in the current comp rules, expect a -1 here. Make sure you have a text card, and your text card lines up with the render.

Alright, my take on the Eldrazi is that they are solid 4/4 bodies, or greater that are extremely difficult to get rid of.

and so here is my entry

In of the the tabs in MSE, there is an "Export" option. That allows you to get a image of your card without having to c/p it from a screen shot.
You might want to try that ;)

Ok, i want to present my "vision" of coming Eldrazi...
Something big, flying, indestructible, and colorless... Here we go:
Image
Marazi Hege, Soul of Akoum :4: :r: :r:
Legendary Creature - Eldrazi (Mythic)
Marazi Hege, Soul of Akoum is colorless and indestructible
Flying, indestructible
:r:, :t:, Sacrifice a land: Destroy target land.
Marazi slumbered for ages. Awakened releases it’s rage, crushing everything on it’s way.
6/6

This article might help you... or make it worse:
http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/A ... aily/mm/69
Spoiler:
Last week I talked all about Rise of the Eldrazi. While I explained our rationale for what we're doing and spilled a bit about the challenges that had to be met, I stopped short of telling you what's going to be in the set. I got a little mail from some readers who hoped I could give at least a little information. Okay, okay. I don't want it to be said that I don't listen to my readers. What I am going to do is spend one paragraph telling you exactly what Rise of Eldrazi is up to, but I'm limiting myself to just one paragraph. Also, to keep in theme for this week's column, I am going to replace numerous words in my paragraph with the word "goblin."

Click here to see the paragraph:
Goblin of the Goblins is going to be a goblin built around the Goblin goblins, all of which have no goblin and are goblin. For example, there are two Goblins at goblin, the goblin of which is 7/7. All of the Goblins have a new goblin called goblin. Goblins with goblin have a goblin; whenever a goblin with goblin goblins, the goblin goblin must goblin that many goblins. The Goblins are very goblin but there are goblins that can create 0/1 goblins called Goblin Goblin that can be goblin to goblin one goblin goblin to your goblin goblin and will help you be able to goblin the Goblins. In addition, the goblin has a new goblin called goblin goblin. You may spend goblin on goblin with goblin goblin to improve their goblins and goblins. This Limited goblin is much goblin than the one in Goblin.

The nature of the Eldrazi is pretty basic to me. Huge, colorless, nearly unkillable, and game changing. I decided to take a shot at their underlings in contrast to the actual Eldrazi themselves.

Image
Servant of Suffering :3: :b: :b:
Creature - Spirit
(Servant of Suffering is colorless.)
Haste, Intimidate.
:t:, :b: :b:, Sacrifice a Creature: Each player loses life equal to the number of colored permanents they control.
“The pain you cannot witness is the most difficult to avoid.”
3/5

This creature is my vision of a member of the brood lineage, the Eldrazi underlings who traverse the world, collecting the energy required to release their masters. This creature specifically is made to weaken those who attempt to make use of the world's colored mana, so that there is a higher abundance of mana to free the Eldrazi.

The way I see it, the Eldrazi and the Brood Lineage are beasts that drift between the Aether and this Realm. They have been stuck in the Aether, and are ready to come down and wreak havok, hence the haste. Why wait to destroy when you have been sealed away for so long? [[Not saying all Eldrazi have haste, some are slower and need to get ready for action]].

So from maro's hint lets try an Eldrazi Titan, a producer of Brood Lineage, and a creature with "level up":
